Peppermint oil is known for its strong fragrance and ability to repel many different types of insects. When used on or around your plants, it may help protect them from damaging insects that would otherwise chew on the leaves and ruin the health of your plants. Plus, peppermint oil is a generally well-tolerated and non-toxic option for plants.
You can use peppermint oil on your plants by adding one drop of peppermint oil for every two ounces of water. Combine your peppermint oil, water, and a couple of drops of dish soap for emulsification purposes. Then, spray the mixture on your plant’s leaves and stems to keep insects off of it. The strong smell should repel insects and is said to confuse them by masking insect pheromone scents already on the plants.
However, take caution that pets around your home don’t consume or lick this mixture off of plants, as it can be harmful to their health.
