Peppermint oil has a strong odor that is beneficial for more than just freshening rooms and flavoring foods and other products. This essential oil is commonly used as an insect repellant as spiders and other pests are unwilling to walk near it; applying peppermint oil around your home may reduce spider infestations and prevent this insect from invading your property.
To effectively use peppermint oil on spiders, mix a few drops of this oil in with a cup of water. You may want to add some dish soap to emulsify the mixture properly. From there, spray the peppermint oil around the exterior foundation of your home and along any areas you may have spotted spider invaders – windowsills and exterior doors are prime places for this.
You can also dab the oil into food pantry areas or cluttered storage spaces like garages or attics where spiders are likely to hide.
